Last week we invited you to come and tour Reedy Fork Farm. Of course, we're not the only farm in the area. The 2013 Piedmont Farm Tour is happening April 27-28 from 1-5pm both days! Join the tour and visit 39 of the best farms in the Triangle’s local and organic farm & food scene.
There are all sorts of animals to see, including ducks, oxen, pigs, chickens, sheep, cows, horses, caterpillars, horses, dogs, and goats. Sample fruits, vegetables, spices, breads, jellies, sausages, cheese, eggs, lemonades, juices, wines and so much more.
You can go fishing, take a hayride, visit a passive-solar greenhouse, name a calf, gather some eggs, pick some strawberries, get rid of some motor oil, even inoculate shiitake logs.
You'll learn about multi-species rotational grazing, cover crops, Heritage birds, bread making, plant breeding, hydroponics, and you can buy all sorts of food, plants, chicks and farm supplies.
Several of the farms - namely Fickle Creek Farm (#22), Chapel Hill Creamery (#24), Saxapahaw Village Farm (#30), and Sunset Farm (#33) - are Reedy Fork Organic Farm customers. We'd love for you to visit them and tell them you know us.
It promises to be an amazing weekend. Ticket information and directions are available at Carolina Farm Stewards Website.
