"Being organic minded is good for many things, and one of them is bringing together people to share ideas and resources, friendship and conversation. That's why we enjoy attending conferences. We hope you'll join us at one or more of the following events - coming up soon: 3rd annual Piedmont Grown conference, February 24 from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm at the Forsyth County Agricultural Building in Winston Salem. The focus will be on growing your farm food business by branding. There are some powerful breakout sessions, a couple of field trips, a luncheon featuring local and organic products. Learn more and register. The 2014 Organic Commodities and Livestock Conference, March 5 at Nash Community College in Rocky Mount, NC. We'll network with and learn from organic farmers, consultants, wholesalers and retailers. The keynote speaker is Oren Holle, who is president of OFARM a cooperative of farms spanning 18 states. Hearing him is worth the trip, but you'll have a bonus from the workshops - building organic soils, organic grain varieties, holistic animal management...and more! With sessions on everything from bread baking to starting a vegetable garden to saving on home energy, you'll find too many things to do and see! This meeting was snowed out back in January, and has been rescheduled. Learn from *the* brightest minds in the business when you join Organic Valley/CROPP Cooperative, Fetrell Company and the North Carolina Cooperative Extension. Speakers include Jeff Mattocks from Fertrell, Dr. Guy Jodarski (an Organic Valley Staff Veterinarian), Marti Day from the NC Coorperative Extension *and* Gerry Pool from Organic Valley. Held at various times all over the United States, this fair promises - and delivers - fun filled, hands on sustainable lifestyle events.
