"This Sunday, Melissa is going to be a part of a cool day of fun called Riot in the Pasture! It’s a “Celebration of Local Food and Farm Fun” – and we think you’ll enjoy it as well.
Riot in the Pasture is an annual event to be held this Sunday, May 20th from 3-7 pm at Hoffner Farms in Rowan County. Celebrate our great local food with a farm to fork dinner by Sweet Meadow Cafe and Cooper’s The Gathering Place. You’ll enjoy great entertainment including live music. Kids will enjoy a tour of the farm and other fun activities for the kids. There are also a ton of vendors – like us! – with samples and offerings of their various wares. And there are door prizes.
If you’re not familiar with Bread Riot, it’s an organization which supports local and sustainable agriculture, and helps people reduce their footprint. They spread the word about local growers, have a book club, and serve as a great advocate for sustainable living. From their website: “The Bread Riot cultivates a thriving local economy by facilitating a supply of locally produced food, utilizing sustainable farming practices and focusing on whole-life issues, education, and environmental concern.”
Tickets to the Riot are $17 for adults and $8 for children. There is a limited number of tickets available, so go online to breadriot.org and get yours before they sell out. And yes, last year they did!!
We hope you’ll join Melissa this Sunday for The Bread Riot! She’ll be passing out samples of our feed, and spreading the word about what we offer at Reedy Fork Farm.
We hope you’ll be there!
PS “Bread Riot” is an actual historical event about a food revolt led by the woman of Rowan County during the Civil War."
