The Piedmont Farm Tour

"The Piedmont Farm Tour is having their 20th anniversay this year, and it promises to be the best year ever! Sponsored by the Carolina Farm Stewardship Association, the tour is April 25 - 26 from 2 - 6 pm. It gives you the opportunity to vist 40 farms throughout Alamance, Chatham, Orange, and Person counties. Visit the farms and see beautiful gardens and animals. Taste the delicious fresh produce and meats. Learn about farm life and practicing. Stock your pantry with the local products available. Meet your farmers...and your neighbors! And the best part is that the cost is only $30 for a carload of people - for *both* days. The tour is self guided. There's an interactive map, route suggestions, descriptions of the huge range of farms, and a link to purchase here Three of the farms on this year's tour are our customers... Chapel Hill Creamery, where you can purchase dairy products, learn about cheeses, take a horse and buggy ride, and eat lunch. Take a cooler; you'll want to take stuff home! Haw River Ranch, where you'll ooh and awe over baby chicks, calves, lambs, and piglets, and then marvel over how the ranch is so in balance with nature. Sunset Farms, which is a 'closed loop' sustainable farm run by a multi-generational family. They have free-range poultry, intensively grazed beef, and a wide variety of vegetable crops.
