"You may have read about another benefit of drinking organic milk this week. A team of scientists from Washington State University conducted an 18-month study that demonstrates organically produced milk serves up much more omega-3 fats than conventionally produced milk. What’s interesting is that although both type of milk contain identical amounts of fat, organic milk contains 62% more omega-3 fats and 25% fewer omega-6 fats. Omega 3 and Omega 6: What’s the difference? For the past century, consumers continue to eat more food containing omega-6’s and less of omega-3’s. While both types of fat are essential for bodily functions, an increased intake of food containing omega-6’s may set off inflammation and heart problems. Scientists continue to discover the benefits of omega-3 consumption: decreased risk of heart disease, cancer and Alzheimer's. How about that? Scientists are discovering what organic farmers already knew: natural is better for you."
