"At Reedy Fork Farm, we press our own organic flax and sunflower oils from seeds that we clean and press on our farm. These oils are added to our organic feed - especially our chicken feed - a great way to add energy to our feed rations. But the oil has proven to be very popular for humans, too. People like it so much that we are in the process of making an oil press room in the back of Reedy Fork Farm store. Our kitchen is now certified so we are well on our way! The seed cleaner basically separates the seeds from the chaff. This makes the oil press run much more smoothly. It sorts out the stalks and other parts of the plants that we don't want pressed. This actually saves money, because the rough stalks and pods are hard on the very expensive press screw.
