"If you love farming, homesteading or gardening, take time to drop by the Harvest Conference on September 4th and 5th. George and Cherry plan to attend Saturday’s trade show at AB Tech Main Campus, Asheville, NC from 9 a.m.- 8 p.m. Organic Growers School presents another great event offering you practical advice, education and just plain fun with an emphasis on the fall growing season. Find out more about harvesting, canning, growing and cooking organically. You will meet all sorts of nice, knowledgeable folks who are interested in self-reliance and sustainable living. Friday’s pre-conference classes, to be held at Warren Wilson College in Swannoah, NC, will cover topics like foraging for mushrooms and wild food preparation and preservation. (This is termed “find dining” at its best.) Topics run the gamut from creative writing to fermentation to fall and winter growing. You can choose from over 20 workshops. And Janisse Ray, author of Ecology of a Cracker Childhood and Seed Underground will be the keynote speaker on Saturday evening. We'll be giving away two 25 pound bags of chicken feed - one layer and one soy free layer, so make sure you stop by the Reedy Fork booth and say howdy! "
