"More and more people are getting the message that there are things in our food that we need to know about. GMO's, hormones, pesticides...we have a right to know. And we need to let the government know how we feel! Last April, Vermont passed the first bill in the United States that requires the labeling of genetically engineered foods. But this month, Colorado and Orgegon saw similar measures defeated. The Colorado measure would have mandated that ""prepackaged, processed food or raw agricultural commodity that has been produced using genetic modification""...include the label: ""Produced with genetic engineering."" We're disappointed, but encouraged that more and more people are pushing for the right to know. Today, Center for Food Safety (CFS) celebrated an historic achievement in Vermont—passage of the first no strings attached bill requiring the labeling of genetically engineered (GE) foods. The occasion marks an important day both for the food movement, with its many activists and partners, and for Center for Food Safety, which has been involved in the push for GE labeling for over a decade. Get in on the action. Visit JustLabelIt.org, and take action! There are several things you can do, starting with contacting the FDA and your Congress. There are nine easy actions steps here: that will help! Let your voice be heard! "
